National Tree Week 2023 – Biodiversity begin with trees
Last year (2022), we revisited all the trees we had planted since 2019. It was a wonderful walk down memory lane, seeing how much our young saplings had grown. This year, we did something different.
For National Tree Week 2023, we turned our attention to Dundalk's historical trees – the mature trees that have stood in our town for decades, even centuries. These trees have witnessed generations pass by, and they deserve some care too.

24th June 2023 – Historical trees on Longwalk
The team went out this morning to care for the trees and flower beds on the Longwalk. A huge amount of work was done by all – weeding, mulching, litter picking, and giving those beautiful old trees the attention they deserve.
Historical trees matter because they store more carbon, provide habitats for birds, insects and mosses which promotes biodiversity. Besides, these trees are a living landmarks and make out town beautiful.
